If you buy a Kinoflex you will be sorry!!! They are trash. Buy a used Canon or spend the money on something really nice.

kinoflex or it's really a desendant of a
Krasnogorsk-3 in Russia made by the same people known as Zenit. Take the plung
with it because the Russian's make optically
superb lenses and man the picture quality
from those lenses are mind blowing!
The Kinoflex (correct me if i'm wrong) has
the Pentax screw mount (M42 K-Bayonet) so
you can add other lenses to your liking..
now that i've put everyone to sleep frown

I believe it is C mount and using other lenses is out of the question. There is a critical optic element built into the camera. I think the theory was that if the lens is damaged the camera can still be used. Supposedly they were designed for military use.

Can anyone confirm about the lens mount?

A friend of mine has lent me one of these Kinoflex cameras for vacation, as my Super 8 is in the shop.

I was thinking, "Damn, if this camera could take different lens's... and could be crystal synced... It could be a pretty cool camera."
Like, how the 16mm version can be crystal synced... http://www.kievusa.com/k3super16.html

    Just dreaming?

you can't use other lenses, but the camera can be used with its own lens removed, because it also has part of the optics contained in the body itself (supposedly this was a military consideration for emergency conditions). i still haven't processed any of my footage yet. anyone seen how it looks?
